Dr. Nicolò Di Novo
Nicolò Giuseppe Di Novo obtained his Bachelor’s in Mechanical and Materials Engineering and his Master’s in Biomechanical Engineering from the University of Brescia (Italy) with a thesis on a 3D aerosol jet-printed microfluidic biomedical device in 2018. During his PhD and Postdoc at the University of Trento and Fondazione Bruno Kessler (Italy), he focused on condensation droplets self-jumping, micro and nanofabrication, anti-icing surfaces, ice wetting, dew harvesting, virus viability in droplets, and microfluidics for biomedical applications.
He received the Best Oral Presentation of a Young Scientist Award from the Fondazione Enzo Ferroni at the European Colloid and Interface Science Conference (2021) and the Price of Young Researchers for Innovation from the Provincia Autonoma di Trento (2024) for his research on anti-frosting surfaces by self-ejection of single droplets. His research draws inspiration from biological surfaces (e.g. Old Man cactus spines and Smoke Tree leaves) and seeks innovative solutions for materials for sustainable energy.
